Quade Cooper could be back from injury earlier than expected, potentially as soon as the Reds' clash with the Sharks in a fortnight.
The Wallaby playmaker fractured his shoulderblade in April against the Rebels, and wasn't expected back until June, putting his World Cup hopes in jeopardy.
However, Reds coach Richard Graham believes he could return sooner than that, targeting the game against the Sharks on May 22nd as a possible comeback date, which would give him four games to stake a claim for a spot in the Wallabies squad.
"Quade’s recovery has been good and he’s a player who does look after himself physically," Graham said.
"At this stage playing the last four games is realistic, certainly the last three.
"It will depend on his examination (with Dr Phil Duke on Friday week) when they look at the healing of the bone."
