Bath have announced that in-form 23-year-old scrum-half Chris Cook has signed a contract extension with the high-flying Aviva Premiership side.

The Academy graduate has made the nine shirt his own this season, starting sixteen of Bath’s games to date, including the wins over Leicester Tigers and Saracens at the Recreation Ground, and Montpellier and Toulouse away.

“I’m really excited to be staying at Bath,” said Cook.

“This is the best place for me to keep developing, with the focus very much on helping young players such as myself to continue improving. There is still a lot of potential to be realised in the squad, and I’m looking forward to being part of it.”

The quick-thinking and tenacious scrum-half spent much of last season on loan with London Welsh, becoming an integral part of their Championship winning campaign, following on from winning the Aviva A League with Bath United in December 2013.

“Chris has massively come on this season, and we’re very pleased he’s staying with us. He learnt a lot through the regular game-time he got on loan with London Welsh, came back to us for pre-season eager to impress and earn his place and that’s what he’s done. He’s got an exciting future ahead of him, and we’re looking forward to helping him achieve his full potential,” said Mike Ford, head coach at Bath.
