Connacht eye Toulouse scalp

Connacht are eager to take the scalp of Toulouse when their Champions Cup campaign kicks off against the French side at the Sportsground.

On the back of a home win over Ulster, the current PRO12 holders are looking to start the European season on a positive note on Saturday.

And head coach Pat Lam believes the confidence they gained from beating their Irish rivals will stand them in good stead against Toulouse.

"We showed real character after such a horrendous, disruptive week. We named a team on Monday but it completely changed by the Friday," he told EPC Rugby. "That is a monkey off my back. We have beaten all 11 teams in the PRO12 now, which is pleasing, and it gives us belief."

"What carried us through was our culture and our belief. It was a great build-up to Toulouse coming here and I'm excited about Saturday."

Connacht though go into their pool campaign without Tom McCartney, Matt Healy and Denis Buckley, who are sidelined for up to eight weeks.
