Exeter hooker Luke Cowan-Dickie is focusing on club performances and not the international scene as he looks to impress coach Stuart Lancaster.
Cowan-Dickie, 21, was included in England’s squad for the tour to New Zealand earlier this year but had to fly home due to a knee injury.
But now back to full fitness and in LV= Cup action this week against Gloucester at Sandy Park, Cowan-Dickie is looking forward to action.
“I’ve just got to focus on my next few games and get back into the Premiership side for Exeter,” the young hooker told BBC Sport.
“I have to get a few Premiership games under my belt before thinking of anything higher.”
Cowan-Dickie revealed that he is in contact with the England coaches as he looks to put in strong performances at the Chiefs from now on.
“They want to develop you as a player so it’s obviously a good thing that I got to go away to New Zealand,” he added.
“I still keep in contact with England coaches from the Under-20 team and also now and again keep in contact with Graham Rowntree.
“If the likes of Stuart Lancaster and Graham Rowntree happen to see you and you play well and pick you, then well done, but I just need to crack on and hopefully perform well in the next few Premiership games and see what happens.”
