Clermont have announced that director of rugby Franck Azèma has signed a new contract to stay with the club until 2020.

Azèma first arrived at the club in 2011 as part of Vern Cotter’s coaching staff before taking over the top job in 2014.

“We are very happy to plan ahead with Franck for the next three seasons,” said Clermont president Eric de Cromières.

“I’m very happy stick with Franck as much for his professionalism as the man he is.

“Right now we’re in a very good place in the two competitions (top seed in the Champions Cup, second by a point in the Top 14), and we are convinced that Franck and his team are the right people to bring titles to Clermont in the months and years to come.”

Azèma added: “I am very happy and proud to continue what I started here. This is good proof of the confidence on the part of the club that will enable us to focus on the long-term.”
