Clermont loose forward Julien Bardy has been cited for allegedly striking Saracens number eight Billy Vunipola with his knee in Saturday’s European Rugby Champions Cup clash.
Bardy will appear before a European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) disciplinary panel in Dublin on Thursday.
The 29-year-old is alleged to have struck the Vunipola with his knee in the 78th minute of the Pool 1 match at Allianz Park.
The complaint was made by the match Citing Commissioner, John Charles (Wales). Simon Thomas (Wales) has been appointed as the independent Judicial Officer for the hearing which will take place in Dublin on Thursday.
Law 10.4 (a) Punching or striking: A player must not strike an opponent with the fist or arm, including the elbow, shoulder, head or knee(s).
Bardy will face a minimum three-week ban if found guilty, while mid-range punishments start at eight weeks and top-end sanctions open at three months.
