Danny Cipriani has been informed that he will not be part of England's Rugby World Cup squad which is due to be announced on Thursday.
The Sale fly-half was expected to miss out, having been used sparingly by Stuart Lancaster during his time in charge of England.
Cipriani looked to have given himself a lifeline as he sparked England's comeback during their 25-20 defeat to France on Saturday, but according to the Daily Mail he will not be part of the squad.
England's current squad of 39 will be reduced to 31 on Thursday, with a final training game on Wednesday set to be used to decide some of the remaining selection issues.
Among the most important will be the final centre spot, with Sam Burgess and Luther Burrell believed to be battling for one spot in the squad.
