Chiefs call up reinforcements

The Chiefs have called up scrum-half Jonathan Taumateine and prop Aidan Ross to their Super Rugby squad as replacements for Brad Weber and Mitchell Graham.

20-year-old Taumateine, of Counties Manukau, played for the Chiefs at the Brisbane Tens and also represented New Zealand at last year’s World Rugby Under-20 Championship, after representing Samoa at the same tournament the year before.

Bay of Plenty’s Ross, 21, was part of New Zealand’s victorious side at the 2015 World Rugby Under-20 Championship. Weber (fractured femur) and Mitchell (fractured tibia and fibula) will both be sidelined for six months.

Meanwhile, 24-years old Matiaha Martin of Counties Manukau joins the Hamilton-based franchise as lock cover.
