Chiefs block scrum-half’s Blues move

Tana Umaga will not reunite with scrum-half Augustine Pulu at the Blues after he was blocked from moving by the Chiefs.

The All Black scrum-half faces a lot of competition in Hamilton, with fellow internationals Tawera Kerr-Barlow and Brad Weber also battling for game time.

As a result Pulu had expressed an interest in joining the Blues, where he would have worked under Umaga, his former coach at Counties Manukau, according to the New Zealand Herald.

The former All Black skipper has limited options at scrum-half, with Jimmy Cowan and Jamison Gibson-Park splitting time this year.

However the Chiefs have stepped into to stop Pulu, who is still under contract and currently recovering from a broken arm picked up earlier this season.
