Martin Castrogiovanni has been dropped by Italy for their last two Six Nations games after missing Saturday's win over Scotland.
While the veteran prop was absent through injury at the weekend – he needed 14 stitches on his nose after being bitten by a friend's dog – he was fit to return to the squad to face France in ten days' time.
However Jacques Brunel has chosen to omit the tighthead from his squad, with Dario Chistolini and Lorenzo Cittadini having impressed at Murrayfield.
While there is no return for Castrogiovanni, Andrea Masi and Quintin Geldenhuys are fit to reclaim their places in the squad to take on les Bleus.
There are three players who are missing through injury, Michele Campagnaro and Alessandro Zanni, who were injured in defeat to Ireland, and Gonzalo Canale, who is a long-term absentee.
