Castleford to seek compensation over Solomona move

Castleford Tigers are set to push for £500,000 in compensation following the departure of wing Denny Solomona to Sale Sharks in December.

According to BBC Sport, Castleford believe the 23-year-old finisher’s move to the Premiership side was completed via a “cynical calculation”.

BBC report they’ve seen court papers that allege Sale knew that he was under contract until November 2018, with compensation offers made.

They say an offer of £50,000 was made to Castleford but an earlier offer of £150,000, rising to £200,000, had been withdrawn by the Sharks.

BBC continued by saying the club are taking legal action against the wing, his agent and Sale, who have previously denied any wrongdoing.
