Cassiem to return against Bulls?

Springbok flanker Uzair Cassiem is set to return to action when the Cheetahs take on the Bulls in their South African derby in Pretoria on Saturday.

The 27-year-old sustained a knee injury when these teams met in their corresponding fixture in Bloemfontein in Round 2.

The home side claimed a 34-28 victory on that occasion but Cassiem’s injury meant he missed his side’s next four matches although he is keen to make his return this weekend.

“The plan was always for me to make my return against the Bulls,” he told Netwerk24.

“I’ve trained hard and the rehabilitation has gone well. I’m looking forward to playing if I get selected.”

Meanwhile, fellow Cheetahs and Springbok flanker Oupa Mohoje is a doubtful starter for Saturday’s clash with the Bulls after injuring his back in his team’s 41-27 loss to the Chiefs in Bloemfontein on Saturday.

Mohoje will undergo a scan on Tuesday to determine whether he is available for selection.

Fly-half Niel Marais and prop Ox Nche are also set to undergo fitness tests after sustaining knee and upper leg injuries respectively against the Chiefs.
