Canterbury coach Scott Robertson has revealed that All Blacks pivot Dan Carter is set to return to action against Southland in Christchurch on September 28.

Carter has been sidelined with a broken fibula – sustained in the Crusaders' loss to the Waratahs in last month's Super Rugby Final – but Robertson is confident he'll be playing again soon.

“If everything goes really well it could be on the Wednesday but it's more than likely going to be the Southland game and we'll just do what's right for him and the All Blacks,” he told New Zealand's3News.

Canterbury could also be boosted by the return of All Black squad members Colin Slade and Dom Bird.
