Crowned as Western Province’s MVP and Players’ Player of the Year on Tuesday, Nizaam Carr is desperate to play for South Africa.
The 23-year-old was in top form for the Stormers in Super Rugby and has carried that into the Currie Cup.
Carr has racked up four tries in this years competition and strung together enough impressive performances to catch the eye of Springbok head coach Heyneke Meyer.
As a consequence Carr was invited to train with the Boks before their Rugby Championship clash against Australia in Cape Town, and having had a taster he wants more.
“I got a nice taste if what it’s like and I’ve got a huge hunger to experience more,” Carr told Die Burger.
“It was unbelievable to practice with the Springboks.
Coach Heyneke (Meyer) told me positive things and that’s a good sign.”
