The Hurricanes are waiting on X-ray and scan results to determine whether Victor Vito and Alapati Leiua will be fit to play against the Chiefs on Friday.

Both players hobbled from the Wellington field in their victory over the Crusaders, with the early signs not looking good for the influential duo.

Vito suffered a calf injury while Leiua went off with a knee problem as defence coach Clark Laidlaw revealed to stuff.co.nz that they await the results.

“Obviously Alapati and Victor were the two most serious of the bumps and bruises we picked up and they're being assessed today,” he said.

“They're having scans this morning, so we're waiting on those two injuries… Obviously, when you come off in the first seven minutes it is less likely you will recover for a game six days later, but we'll have to wait and see.

“It's not even 48 hours since we played, so come tomorrow the medics will be able to have a real good look and see where they're at.”
