The Chiefs are keeping a close eye on the fitness of a handful of key players ahead of their Super Rugby semi-final against the Crusaders this Saturday.

Flanks Sam Cane and Tanerau Latimer both sat out the closing stages of training on Tuesday, with coach Dave Rennie explaining Cane's situation.

“It's not from a concussion point of view. He's just a little bit sore, and we'll keep him out of contact,” he told Newstalk ZB.

The champions are also monitoring the workload of forwards Ben Afeaki, Ben Tameifuna, Hika Elliot and Brodie Retallick going into the semi-final.
