Canada and Spain's Women's sides claimed victories over Ireland and Scotland respectively in games that took place on Saturday and Friday.

Canada ran in seven tries to convincingly beat the Irish 48-7, with Julianne Zussman (2), DaLeaka Menin, Karen Paquin, Emily Belchos, Laura Russell and Magali Harvey crossing while Andrea Burk kicked 13 points.

"We are pleased to win against Ireland," head coach Francois Ratier said. "There is still some room for improvement but I think we were able to maintain the continuity with our forwards and make sure that when we passed to the backs we had a clear option to score."

"The score does not reflect how tough it was," second-row Latoya Blackwood added. "I think we performed well. We had a week to prepare and that really helped."

Meanwhile, 2,565 fans were at Scotstoun Stadium to see Spain win 10-5 in dismal weather conditions.

Deborah McCormack scored Scotland's only try on 29 minutes before Spain struck a penalty and then a converted try made it 10-5 at the break, with the second-half seeing no further points scored.
