Canada's World Cup preparations have been dealt a blow with the loss of Jason Marshall, who has been ruled out through injury.

The Agen tighthead has been struggling with knee and back problems, and lasted just ten minutes of Sunday's loss to Fiji, injuring his ribs during the game.

As a result Jake Ilnicki, who was already with the team as cover, has been officially added to the 31-man squad.

Based in Australia, Ilnicki missed out initial selection but joined the squad at the end of August, and in fact replaced Marshall during the game against Fiji.

Canada are also sweating over the fitness of Harry Jones and skipper Tyler Ardron, who are expected to miss the opening game against Ireland.
