Byrne – ‘We’re going to play a running game’

Wallabies skills coach Mick Byrne expects the Rugby Championship opener against New Zealand to be a 'pretty frenetic game'.

Byrne worked with the All Blacks in the same role through three World Cups, including two wins, but will be in the opposition technical area come Saturday.

And Byrne is keen to see the fruits of the Wallabies' rigorous training camp that has taken place in Cessnock over the last month.

"I think the extra special part for me tomorrow night is seeing these guys unleash what they have been doing over the last four weeks," Byrne told Stuff.

Meanwhile, Byrne confirmed that the Wallabies would play an attacking game in Sydney.

"We are going to play a running game," he said.

"That is the way 'Cheik' has building-up all his teams, to run the ball and to play hard.

"Our challenge is to hang on to it. If we are going to run the ball, hang on to it and back our skills.

"I think you are going to see a pretty frenetic game."
