Brive get the better of Agen

Date published: September 13 2015

Brive picked up their second win of the Top 14 season on Sunday as they battled past Agen, securing an 18-12 victory at Stade Amédée Domenech.

It was hardly a high-octane affair as the two teams went in at the break locked up at six points apiece, with Gaetan Germain and Burton Francis trading shots.

After the break though, Brive came to life with a try from outside centre Arnaud Mignardi on 54 minutes setting them on their way at 11-6 in front of their fans.

Francis would respond for Agen with two further penalties that put them 11-12 in front on the hour mark but Brive hit back via replacement Matthieu Ugalde on 72 minutes, with Germain's conversion making it 18-12 which was how it stayed.

The result lifts Brive up to eighth spot in the Top 14 while Agen sit joint bottom.
