Bristol have announced the signing of Georgian international second-row Giorgi Nemsadze ahead of their Premiership comeback this season.

The experienced lock has made over 60 appearances for his country, representing Georgia at the 2011 and 2015 Rugby World Cups.

Standing at 6’5” and weighing over 120kg, Nemsadze arrives from Tarbes in the French Pro D2.

"Giorgi fits the bill for a Premiership lock. He's heavy, abrasive and he's been a key part of a Georgia forwards pack that has enjoyed considerable success at international level," director of rugby Andy Robinson told Bristol's website.

"We recruit players that fit the mould of the standards and culture we expect at Bristol Rugby. Giorgi not only brings with him the knowledge of playing in France for nearly ten years, but also that physical intensity we are striving for."

Nemsadze, who has also represented Montauban and Valence d’Agen, made 15 outings for Tarbes during the 2015/16 campaign, scoring once.

He added: "To play in the top flight was an ambition of mine, so I am delighted to join Bristol Rugby and to begin life in the Premiership.

"I spoke with Andy [Robinson] at length and was very impressed with the ambition and environment in place at the club.

"I pride my game on working hard for my team-mates and giving 100% commitment to the shirt. I am looking forward to getting started at Bristol."

Meanwhile, Bristol have added lock BJ Edwards to the squad on a six-month trial. The 22-year-old arrives from Eastern Suburbs in Sydney, Australia.
