Boudjellal wants Toulon in Premiership

In a dramatic twist, Toulon head coach Mourad Boudjellal has revealed he is keen for his team to leave the Top 14 and join the Premiership.

L'Equipe reports that the big-spending club's boss has approached Premiership Rugby about possibly joining the competition in 2017/18.

Boudjellal says he's "serious" about a proposed move that would see Toulon leave the likes of Racing 92, Toulouse and Clermont behind.

"If it's not possible next season, then the season after," he revealed.

"The economic future is in England rather than France because of the way the two leagues are governed. The English make good decisions."

Toulon are currently top of their Champions Cup pool and fourth in the Top 14 on 36 points, two behind the aforementioned three outfits.
