Exeter Chiefs full-back Chrysander Botha is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking a leg while playing for Namibia.

Botha was stretchered off and taken to a local hospital after sustaining the injury in the eighth minute of his country’s ’17-13 loss to Canada in Colwyn Bay on Friday.

He rejoined his teammates on Friday night after a scan revealed that he had dislocated his left ankle and fractured his leg.

The 26-year-old, who joined Exeter earlier this year from the Golden Lions, was philosophical about the setback.

“It is part of rugby and I just hope I can make a full recovery in time for the Rugby World Cup in England next year ” Botha said.
