Marty McKenzie will take over at fly-half from brother Damian in the Chiefs team to play the Highlanders in Invercargill on Saturday.
Maama Vaipulu will replace captain Liam Messam, who suffered a shoulder injury during the victory over the Bulls in Rotorua last week and is undergoing further investigation to determine the full extent of the injury. In his absence Sam Cane will captain the side.
The changes continue for the Chiefs with prop Pauliasi Manu returning to the starting XV.
Lock Michael Fitzgerald comes back into the side in the second-row and will partner up with veteran Ross Filipo, who gets another run this week.
Marty McKenzie joining the starting line-up in the number 10 jersey means brother Damian moves to full-back.
In the only other change to the matchday 23, Mitchell Crosswell joins the reserves.
