Bonus-point win for Newcastle

Newcastle moved a point behind Lyon in Pool 2 of the Challenge Cup as they beat the French outfit 48-29 at Kingston Park.

After two losses from their first three games, the Falcons needed this win and played well to pick up all five points in Sunday's fixture.

First-half tries from Juan Socino (2), Tane Takulua and Joel Hodgson sent them into the break 34-10 up, with Hodgson kicking 14 points.

After the turnaround it was more of the same from Newcastle as Zach Kibirige and Callum Chick also crossed in a high-scoring success.

Lyon's try-scorers were Thibaut Regard, Pierre-Louis Barassi, Franck Romanet and Paul Bonnefond, with Ospreys sitting pretty nine points clear of the French team with just two rounds remaining in the pool stage.
