Blues’ new kit to support Owen Williams

Canterbury and Cardiff Blues unveiled the new European shirt for 2015/16 which is inspired by Wales international centre Owen Williams.

The latest shirt features gold and navy hoops, a design inspired by Williams’ home town kit at Aberdare RFC and the Cardiff Blues jersey.

The change in design follows Williams’ neck injury last year, where the player suffered severe spinal injuries while playing in a tournament in Singapore.

The shirt also features the hashtag #StayStrongForOws on the back of the neck, reflecting the fundraising and awareness the #StayStrongForOws campaign has achieved through the support of the club and fans.

Launched to support Williams, who suffered a serious spinal injury while in action for Cardiff Blues, the rugby community has already helped raise over £200,000, with support from the Welsh Rugby Charitable Trust.

Each European shirt sale this year will see a donation of £5 go to the growing fund.

Canterbury CEO, Chris Stephenson, said: “We are proud to support the Stay Strong for Ows campaign through our European shirt sales this season. We hope fans enjoy the new design which is inspired by Williams’ home town kit.”
