Recalled England centre Brad Barritt believes he is playing some of his best rugby and is relishing his return to the Test arena.

The 28-year-old has represented England in 18 Tests but has been battling to overcome a foot injury and last started a Test in March 2013.

His recent performances means that he is set to be in England’s run-on side against New Zealand at Twickenham on Saturday.

“I’ve been in great form,” Barritt told the BBC.

“It’s great to be back in the England mix.”

The Saracens stalwart, who usually plays as an inside centre, is set to wear the number 13 jersey after Leicester’s Manu Tuilagi and Northampton’s Luther Burrell were ruled out due to injuries.

“I’m very comfortable playing at 13,” said Barritt.

“I’m happy to play wherever the team needs me. I’d be quite happy to play at tight-head prop if needed.

“Playing for England for me is the ultimate.”

Barritt played a pivotal role when England beat New Zealand at Twickenham in 2012 and scored a try in the 38-21 triumph at Twickenham which was the All Blacks’ first defeat since they won the World Cup in 2011.

“It was a fantastic day to break their big winning streak,” he added.

“But it’s a thing of the past now.

“We are all agreed that we are not the finished article and there is a lot more to come.

“This autumn is a huge pointer for us to make a statement.”
