South African lock Bakkies Botha may push back his playing retirement until November next year because of the Rugby World Cup.

In order to help out Toulon while their players are away at the tournament in England, the veteran second row may postpone his end-of-season retirement date according to Rugbyrama.

Botha’s retirement from Test rugby was announced following South Africa’s win over Italy last month.

The 35-year-old had confirmed that he hoped to win more trophies with Toulon before the end of the current domestic campaign, but he may now be around for a little longer.

Toulon could lose second row Georgia star Konstantin Mikautadze along with France pair Jocelino Suta and Romain Taofif
