Mike Ford's new role with Toulon will see him take charge of the club's backs, with Steve Meehan moving to cover video analysis and skills.
Ford started work with the club on Monday in his first role since leaving Bath at the end of last season.
Commenting on his appointment, Ford told Rugbyrama: "I'm looking forward to this role. Last year, it was difficult for me with a lot of stress in my professional and personal life."
Ford watched Toulon defeat Clermont 23-21 at the Stade Félix Mayol on Sunday and revealed that he is excited about the prospect of working on Toulon's attacking game, after a decade focusing on coaching defence before arriving at Bath.
"For 10 years I worked as a defence specialist. When you study the defence, you look at the opponent's attack," he explained.
"During those ten years, I became comfortable defending against all type of attacks. But I also learned a lot about attacking tactics too.
"When I went to Bath, I reversed the situation. I put myself in charge of attack to pose the best possible problems to a defence."
