The Australian Rugby Union are waiting for a possible bill of ‘a few thousand euros’ from the IRFU after breaking a dressing room door.

The incident occurred after Ireland’s 26-23 win over the Wallabies on Saturday, a second narrow loss for Michael Cheika’s men in a week.

Cheika is believed to not be the culprit, with sources pointing to another member of ARU staff.

Cheika famously damaged the coaches’ box at Canberra Stadium after a loss for the Waratahs earlier this year.

The price of the repairs, which includes the door frame and fittings, ranges from a ‘few thousand’ to up to €8000 depending on the report, although this is yet to be confirmed with the IRFU deciding whether to “formally bill the ARU for the damage.”

“There was an accident after the match involving one of our support staff,” an ARU spokesman told the Irish Examiner.

“We made the IRFU aware of this on the evening of the game and have offered our assistance in any way if required.”
