Bath second-row Dave Attwood is a doubt for England's November Tests after sustaining an injury in his club's Premiership clash with London Irish.
Attwood left the field just five minutes into Saturday's fixture, having taken a knock to the ribs.
Currently captaining the Bath side, the second-row was a stand-out performer in England's June tour of Argentina, and had looked set to feature in the November Tests, beginning on November 2.
His coach at Bath, Mike Ford, remains positive that the lock can recover in time to play a part in the test-matches, but are still waiting to discover the severity of his injury.
“It's tough to know at the moment how long he will be out until the injury settles down,” Ford told the Daily Mail.
“He's definitely out on Friday and may not play the week after that as well. We will have to see, but he should be okay for England.”
Attwood will be competing for a second-row berth alongside the likes of Joe Launchbury, whom he partnered in both Tests against the Pumas, and Geoff Parling, who was on duty with the British and Irish Lions at the time.
