Saracens boss Mark McCall was pleased with his side's build-up to their clash with Zebre, which ultimately led to a 39-10 win in Parma.
Saracens boss Mark McCall was left delighted with his side's build-up to their clash with Zebre, which ultimately resulted in a 39-10 triumph in Parma.
The five-try Heineken Cup performance was very impressive as many other teams have struggled to convincingly beat the Italians on home soil.
“What pleased me most this week was how good our preparation and mentality was,” McCall said to Saracens' official website after the solid win.
“We actually gave them a lot of respect in the build-up to today's game, and we knew how difficult today could have been. Monday, Tuesday and Thursday training was at a very high level and I suppose we have to do the same this week and make sure we have the correct attitude which I'm sure this group will.”
McCall added that a fast start was critical as Saracens pulled away from the Italian side, thus making it easier to pick up the bonus point.
“It was really good today because we did a very clinical job on Zebre, especially in the first half. The energy of the group in the opening 35 minutes was outstanding, we took our chances when they were there,” he added.
“We did make a bit of heavy weather getting the bonus point, credit to Zebre they came out in the second half and fought really hard so I'm delight to have come away with the bonus-point win.”
