Tom Arscott is “considering his next steps” after he had his contract terminated by Sale following an alleged leak of information to Bristol.
Arscott, 29, was suspended by his former club after some of his Sale team-mates told director of rugby Steve Diamond of a meeting between Tom and his brother Luke, who plays for Bristol, before the sides faced off in the Premiership on New Year’s Day, a game Sale lost 24-23.
Bristol deny any wrongdoing while Arscott has on Friday released a statement via the Rugby Players’ Association, explaining the situation.
“While I am extremely disappointed with the outcome of the club’s internal disciplinary hearing, I would like to thank those that have supported me through the process to date,” he said.
“This has been a very difficult time for myself and my family and I will consult with my advisors before considering my next steps.
“In the meantime, I will cooperate fully and willingly with the ongoing RFU investigation and will not be making further comment until this has been concluded.”
The RPA said it will continue to provide support and legal assistance to the player but would be making no further comment until the RFU’s independent investigation has been completed.
