Cardiff Blues back Gareth Anscombe hasn’t hidden his desire to pull on the Wales jersey in the near future but will remain grounded until it happens.
The 23-year-old, who joined the region from the Chiefs in New Zealand, is set to push hard for a spot in the Welsh XV during the Six Nations.
But with the Blues in the midst of a tough run of results in the Guinness PRO12, Anscombe knows that he cannot look further than that right now.
“I’m a pretty driven guy and now that I’m over here it’s the goal to play for Wales. I guess the next step may be the Six Nations,” he told Wales Online.
“But if you look too far ahead in this game then you tend to miss out on the little things, so the target for me now is to play well for the Blues.
“There are a few classy number tens and outside backs in that Welsh team, so I know I need to play well at club level.”
