The Hurricanes suffered another setback when centre Tim Bateman injured himself at training on Wednesday.

According to YahooSport , Bateman suffered a grade one medial knee ligament injury and after being carried off the field, he re-emerged with his injured leg in a splint.

More is expected to be known on the injury by Thursday but it is expected that he will spend two to six weeks on the sidelines.

Meanwhile, flanker Brad Shields has been ruled out for up to seven weeks with a more serious knee injury. The Hurricanes' first match is against the Sharks in Durban on February 22.
