Connacht have suffered a blow with the news that inside centre Bundee Aki will be ruled out for eight to ten weeks as he requires surgery on his ankle.

The former Chiefs midfielder Aki will subsequently miss Connacht’s remaining European Challenge Cup pool fixtures along with a chunk of PRO12 clashes.

“Following an MRI examination and consultation with an orthopaedic surgeon, it has been confirmed that Bundee sustained a ruptured syndesmosis towards the end of the game with Edinburgh last week,” read a statement from the province.

“The 24-year-old will undergo surgery to the ankle next week and is likely to be sidelined for eight to ten weeks.”
