New Zealand’s hammering of the USA came at a cost with Cory Jane and Nathan Harris being ruled out of the remainder of their tour.

Harris scored the game’s opening try at Chicago’s Soldier Field on his first Test start but had to leave the game almost immediately afterwards with an ankle problem.

For his part, Jane is suffering from a hamstring problem which he picked up on a run down the right-hand side after half an hour.

He had already got his name on the scoresheet with an early try, but will not be able to add to his 53 Tests on the remainder of this tour.

It’s a major blow for Jane, who faces fierce competition for a spot in the side with Ben Smith being rested against the Eagles and fit-again Charles Piutau offering Steve Hansen another option.

Replacing Harris will give Hansen a major headache though, as New Zealand are short on cover at hooker with Dane Coles and Keven Mealamu currently the only options for Saturday’s clash with England at Twickenham.

The All Blacks will announce replacements for the pair upon arrival in England.
