There was more bad injury news for the Sharks on Monday when it was revealed that Springbok flanker Willem Alberts will be sidelined for two to three weeks.
Alberts did not feature in last weekend's win against the Cheetahs will not be avaialable showdown with the Chiefs at Kings Park, and joins fellow Springbok Pieter-Steph du Toit on the sidelines.
The Sharks released an injury update on Monday, stating that loose forward Tera Mtembu has cartilage damage in the knee.
Like Du Toit, he is seeing a specialist on Monday to determine treatment plan in conjunction with The Sharks medical team.
Stephan Lewies will still be out for another four weeks as he recovers from knee and shoulder surgery, but his recovery is on track.
Paul Jordaan is progressing well while Etienne Oosthuizen resumed training with the team on Monday.
"There were plenty of positives for us to take away from the Cheetahs match and the team will definitely be looking to build on that momentum going in to the clash against the Chiefs," said Sharks Director of Rugby Gary Gold.
"They are a champion side who are on a winning streak and we are under no illusions about the enormity of the challenge that lies ahead on Saturday."
