Clermont full-back Nick Abendanon is set for three months on the sidelines ahead of undergoing surgery.
The 2015/2016 European Player of the Year has not played for les Jaunards since January 8.
Abendanon enjoyed an outstanding first season at the Stade Marcel Michelin and the club were dumped out of the Champions Cup last weekend without him involved.
After consulting a specialist a decision has been made for the former England international to undergo surgery to remove the recurring pain in his groin.
The operation will be performed in the next few days to keep Abendanon out until April.
Meanwhile, Clermont centre Benson Stanley also required groin surgery and will be out of action for between four to six weeks.
