Ospreys head coach Steve Tandy has played down his team’s winning start to the PRO12 as they head into their European opener against Treviso.
Tandy’s outfit have won six out of six so far this season and sit atop the standings after beating Cardiff Blues in Swansea over the weekend.
“It’s a great start for us, but a start is all it is,” the head coach told Wales Online following their impressive opening to the 2014/15 campaign.
“To end this block with six victories is something really pleasing. We know there has been a lot spoken about people writing us off and then all of a sudden we are a fantastic team or whatever. Somewhere in the middle is about fair.
“We are getting better. There are patches that are real good for us and our young boys are improving week in, week out. There will be a lapse at some point, but it’s nice that six games in we are still unbeaten.”
However, Tandy isn’t letting his side get ahead of themselves as he believes there is a lot more needing to be done in the coming weeks after they conceded late on against the Blues.
“We feel we have burned a good few opportunities and weren’t ruthless enough,” he added.
“To concede two tries at the end doesn’t represent where we have set our standards.
“We set ourselves the target of being better every week.
“It was great to see a young group, who are still learning, disappointed with conceding two tries and bombing one or two themselves.”
