Flying home: Digby Ioane

Digby Ioane will miss the Reds' match against the Stormers in Cape Town on Saturday after flying back to Brisbane to have scans on an injured left knee.

The Queensland Rugby Union said that Ioane, included in Robbie Deans' 25-man Australia squad to play the British and Irish Lions, had a soft tissue injury that wasn't considered serious.

Ioane, who sustained the injury in the Reds' 27-13 defeat to the Cheetahs in Bloemfontein over the weekend, will fly back to Brisbane to have scans.

Australia were hit by two more serious injuries on the weekend. Veteran Brumbies flanker George Smith injured the medial ligament in his left knee and Waratahs hooker Tatafu Polota-Nau broke his right arm. Both are doubts for the Lions Tests.
