Waiting game: James Horwill

Australia coach Robbie Deans is keen to know whether lock James Horwill will be cleared by the International Rugby Board to take on the Lions.

Deans must wait until Monday to find out if his second-row forward can take on the tourists in this Saturday's winner-takes-all showdown.

The Wallabies skipper was cleared of stamping on Alun-Wyn Jones in the opening game of the three-match series, which the Lions won 23-21.

However, the IRB subsequently appealed the decision, with Horwill, although able to play the second Test, being in doubt for the third game.

"These hearings are part of the game I guess. When I started my career as a coach, I didn't realise I was going to need a legal background as well!" said Deans ahead of Monday's hearing.

"It's not something that excites you greatly, but it's an important part of the game.

"We've got a responsibility to the game itself and to the viewing public. It will run its course and then we'll get on with the stuff that really excites these blokes."
