Welsh prop Gethin Jenkins will not be available for selection for the opening match of the Lions tour due to a calf injury.
Jenkins has been struggling since picking up a knock on his troublesome calf when he came on as a substitute for Toulon in the Heineken Cup Final against Clermont 10 days ago.
While the 32-year-old was hopeful of returning to fitness in time to face the Barbarians on Saturday, Lions coach Warren Gatland has revealed he will miss out on the match.
"It's three or four days before he's probably up and running," Gatland is quoted as saying by the BBC.
"He's had ongoing problems with his calf for a long, long time but the physios are confident he'll be available for the second or the third game so it shouldn't hamper him too much."
