British and Irish Lions coach Warren Gatland took charge of Tuesday morning's training session at Top 14 club Stade Français.
The former All Black directed a training session focused on rucks and specifically the correct body positions for clearing out rucks and retaining and winning ball possession.
The Parisian club, who are languishing in tenth place in the Top 14, are coached by former England, Stade Français and Biarritz loose forward Richard Pool-Jones, who took over from Michael Cheika last year.
Gatland has temporarily stepped away from his role of Head coach of Wales for the Six Nations, during which Rob Howley is leading the Welsh team.

The Lions tour had better be a successful one otherwise this kind of thing is gonna come back and bite him on the arse. It's the kind of thing that the media will just love to bring up in a post match interview after the Lions have just lost the first test.

It was 'full time' enough, three6three6, that he insisted on being released from Wales for a year. Instead of fart-arsing around with Stade Francais he should be attending the 6N training camps each week and meeting players and coaches; has he even been going to games?
I'm less than impressed so far.

This is the nature of professional rugby.... clearly the Lions role is not a 'full time' coaching role at the moment.... and why shouldn't Gatland 'moonlight' at another club, where he has no conflict of interest?

Yes, interesting. I think the message he wants to send out to Scotland AND England is "Hi boys, look at me, I'm the Lions coach NOT the Wales coach at the mo., why, I'm nowhere near Cardiff!"

Wales might be a bit unhappy that he can't find time for them at the moment, but he can spend a bit of time with a club in Paris that has no potential Lions tourists that I'm aware of.
