JAMES HORWILL AUSTRALIA LIONS

Positive: James Horwill

Australia skipper James Horwill stated the despite the disappointment of losing the first Test, the Wallabies remained confident.

Missed kicks for fly-half James O'Connor and replacement Kurtley Beale, after pre-match designated kicker Christian Lealiifano was stretchered off in the first minute, lead to the Wallabies' downfall.

Beale's two opportunities in the closing minutes would have each been enough to put the Wallabies into the lead, with Australia instead going 1-0 down in the series after losing 21-23.

Horwill was happy with the way his side grew into the match and with the performance of wing sensation Israel Folau, but was also bitterly disappointed to end up on the losing side.

"It's very disappointing. We were right in it and a couple of errors and ill-discipline allowed them to get a leg up," said Horwill.

"In that first half, we didn't have a lot of ball and the ball we did have we made the most of so that will give us a lot of confidence.

"At the end of the day, we've got to be more clinical and make more of our opportunities. I thought our set-piece was very good. We really grew at scrum time. We've done a lot of work on it over the last couple of weeks.

"They went hard at the breakdown. A couple of times we were a bit slow to get in there so that's something we've got to be aware of next week.

"Obviously [the second Test] is a must win. We'll be approaching it in that way, working on the things we need to work on and trying to get better. We're already looking forward to it.

"[Folau]'s a freak of a talent. He's got that X-factor and you can see that when he gets his hands on the ball, things happen."
