British and Irish Lions team doctor James Robson has delivered mixed news about the fitness of Wales back duo Jamie Roberts and George North.
It seems Roberts will miss the first Test against Australia in Brisbane due to suffering a hamstring strain against the Waratahs over the weekend.
However, North could feature on Saturday after making good progress on his own hamstring complaint that he sustained the previous week.
"Jamie's very well this morning, his scans indicate one thing, his demeanour another (but) he is a 'grave doubt' for this week," said Robson.
"You only had to see how much discomfort he was in at the weekend. However, further assessment will be made later in the week as to his availability going forward.
"Jamie Roberts is not likely to be available (for Saturday), Tommy Bowe is highly unlikely but that was never the plan, other than that everyone else is in line.
"George is an exceptional character and has worked really hard. He is back to running today. He is doing very, very well.
"An accurate assessment of his availability for selection will take place on Wednesday, but at the moment I think he is doing very well."
