George Smith is now available to face the British & Irish Lions after Japanese club Suntory extended his loan with the Brumbies.

According to the Courier Mail, Jake White persuaded Suntory to extend Smith's loan until the end of the Super Rugby season in August following the loss of David Pocock.

Smith's original deal was due to expire on May 31st, but the extension now means he will be in Australia throughout the Lions tour and could be selected by Robbie Deans.

The 32-year old will compete with Reds flanker Liam Gill and Waratahs openside Michael Hooper for the seven shirt if selected, looking to add to his 110 caps.
