Joins Gareth Chilcott on tour

The legendary former England prop Jason Leonard has confirmed that he will be joining Gullivers Sports Travel and his old England propping mate, Gareth Chilcott, on the Lions tour to New Zealand in June next year. Leonard will be returning to the land he toured as a player with the 1993 Lions who went down narrowly 2-1 in the three Test series. Want to join him on this adventure?

Gullivers has taken an innovative approach to rugby touring by chartering the 1,200 berth cruise liner, Pacific Sky, to enable all their clients to be in the heart of all the Test match venues.  Jason and Gareth will both be on board mixing with Gullivers’ Lions fans.

Leonard, who toured with the 1993, 1997 and 2001 Lions, said: “This is going to be something different for me, seeing a tour from the fans’ view.  Gullivers’ accommodation is right in the heart of all test venues and that was the most important aspect for me. That’s what it’s all about – being right in the thick of the action over a test match weekend.

“I understand that Pacific Sky has seven bars so I can foresee a pub crawl or two just on board!  I am really looking forward to being with all the English, Welsh, Irish and Scottish too for what is going to be a fantastic tour.”

What’s more, Gullivers received confirmation this week that Pacific Sky will be moored for six days at the Ocean Passenger Terminal, just a few minutes’ walk from the main social area of Wellington, Courtney Place.

Meanwhile, Gullivers is about to launch some flexible “Accommodation Freewheelers” packages – simply three or four nights accommodation in the three Test venues,  Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland.

Costs from £379 per person with a Test match ticket guaranteed.

Susie Bresler, manager of Gullivers’ Lions department, said: “We are aware that plenty of fans have made their own travel arrangements to New Zealand but are now unable to get centrally located Test match venue accommodation, so we think these new packages will help out a lot of fans.”
