Danie Rossouw: Blue Bulls' try-scorer last week misses out against Boland

The Blue Bulls will be without World Cup-winning utility forward Danie Rossouw for their Currie Cup fixture against the Boland Kavaliers in Wellington on Saturday.

Rossouw, who is struggling with niggles in his neck and back, gets an injury-enforced break.

But fellow heroes of last year's World Cup-winning side Wikus van Heerden, Fourie du Preez and Wynand Olivier will all be able to play against Boland.

Pedrie Wannenburg, seemingly a forgotten Springbok but the Blue Bulls' outstanding forward last weekend against the Cheetahs, and Van Heerden will not take any contact during the week but have been cleared to play.

Olivier, who injured his elbow against the Cheetahs, can also be considered for the match.

Du Preez's hand injury is something of the past and his fellow Springbok, Chiliboy Ralepelle, is also available for the match in Wellington.

Should Ralepelle get a run in the blue jersey, Springbok selectors will be keeping an eye on the one-time South Africa skipper. With the Boks missing their number one and two hookers to injury and suspension, they have had to call on two hookers in as many weeks to fill the void.

If either Schalk Brits or Adriaan Strauss get struck by an injury or ban, Ralepelle or his in-form Blue Bulls team-mate Derick Kuun will no doubt get a look-in.

But the injuries don't stop with the Springboks, centre Wayne Julies (knee) as well as number eight Dewald Potgieter (hamstring) and scrum-half Heini Adams (tibia) will be able to play in two weeks time.

Blue Bulls coach Frans Ludeke said he wants to pick his strongest side for the weekend's match. He feels the Cavaliers have earned a lot of respect in the early rounds of the Currie Cup and the Bulls don't want to falter in Wellington.

Shaun Edwards hands out the orders as Wales warm-up at the Millennium Stadium. A sickening clash of heads in the opening minute sees both Stirling Mortlock and Jamie Roberts hurt. Mortlock is taken from the field immediately, whilst Roberts plays on for 15 minutes with a fractured skull.
