Naqelevuki: AWOL

Having released him to play for Fiji in the recent Pacific Nations Cup, Western Province now find themselves victim of a Fijian going walkabout.

Sireli Naqelevuki is now two weeks late to be back in the Western Cape for Currie Cup training with his team, and his whereabouts are a mystery.

It is no first either for Naqelevuki or for Fijians in general. Naqelevuki went missing at the same time last year, and his rather more celebrated predecesor in the national team, Rupeni Caucaunibuca, went missing several times while contracted to French club Agen.

Naqelevuki, like Caucau, also has a failed drug test and suspension behind him.

There is also speculation that Naqelevuki has slipped into England to join a Guinness Premiership club, with Northampton Saints said to be chasing his signature.
